Guide to Cleaning Household Upholstery Furniture

“Who can evade the everyday enemy- Dust?”

Just like we take a shower to wash off dirt and dust and get energized daily, our household furniture also needs the same cleaning maintenance to keep its charm and aura alive. A clean home is a happy home. Hygiene is imperative to a perfect work and living condition. Upholstery is a part of a household that demands time and effort for its regular upkeep. Upholstery if not maintained properly can age quickly and display a dull and unaesthetic look to the living room. Who would wish to rest on a dirty and dingy couch at the end of a weary day?

We at Provincial Fabric House entail you a stepwise schedule that you can follow to clean your household upholstery the appropriate way.

Protocol to follow for routine Household Upholstery Cleaning:

  1. Initiate with Vacuuming

Dirt and dust accumulation on the surfaces of household upholstery is inevitable. The first step to cleaning is thoroughly vacuuming of the dusty upholstery. Dirt visible to the naked eye is effectively got ridden off by simple vacuuming. Never skip this step.

Choose the right type of brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner depending upon the needs and structure of your upholstery. Ensure you use a soft brush attachment or a specially designed upholstery cleaning attachment to vacuum your entire sofa set.

Look between cracks and crevices for hidden dirt and make an effort to vacuum these concealed areas effectively. A soft tissue paper, when attached to the vacuum nozzle and inserted between crevices, can readily clean up the concealed dirt.

  2. Stain removal

Stains/Spills on the couch should be immediately blotted up with the help of a blotting paper/ tissue. Never rub a stain for it may cause it to spread and may harm the upholstery fabric material.

Always spot clean stains and discolouration patches. Vinegar that is readily available at home can be used as a cleaning agent for stain removal. A special upholstery cleaning agent for stain removal is also available in stores.

Before you use the stain removal product always test the product on a concealed part of the upholstery. Wait for half an hour to check for any adverse reactions to the fabric. Once you are confirmed that the solution is safe to use, pour the cleaner on a clean microfibre cloth and rub over the stain with a mild hand. Allow the cleaner to remain on the couch for about half an hour for maximum effectiveness. Blot excess solution off with paper towels.

  3. Deep Cleansing

A mild washing detergent mixed with lukewarm water can be used as a simple home cleaning solution for upholstery. Soak and squeeze a clean microfiber cloth in the solution and gently wipe the surfaces of the upholstery with it. Allow the solution to penetrate the upholstery fabric for a thorough cleanse. Spend 1-2 minutes on each section. Take care not to soak too much water into the upholstery. Wring the cloth properly prior to wiping upholstery with it. Always use a clean cloth for this purpose.

A steam cleaner can be used in this step. Choose a steamer that can get heated quickly and can operate easily at 158-212 degrees Fahrenheit.

  4. Thoroughly air drying before use

It is mandatory to dry freshly cleaned upholstery prior to usage completely. Place the cleaned upholstery piece in a room with airy spaces. Open up all windows for complete air circulation. Switch on the fans at the highest speed in the room to facilitate air drying.

Place the upholstery directly under the fan to quicken up the drying process. Provide plenty of time for air drying. You can alternatively dry the upholstery with a hairdryer. Natural air drying is much more preferred than hair dryer use as it eliminates the detergent smell effectively.

Upholstery Cleaning Codes

Every upholstery fabric has a cleaning code mentioned on the attached tags of the material. Always read the cleaning codes prior to cleaning any upholstery. This will ensure your upholstery is cleaned and maintained the right way.
  • W: Use water-based solution for cleaning purpose
  • S: Use the water-free solution for cleaning purpose (dry cleaning product)
  • WS: Use either water-based or water free cleaner can be used
  • X: Demands professional cleaning by an upholstery cleaning expert. At home, only simple vacuuming and gentle brushing should be done.

Cotton vs Polyester Sheets: Make the right choice for your bedding!

Your bedding is an important part of your life since you spend about 1/3rd of your day in its arms in deep slumber. A good night’s sleep brings the best of days. The type of sheets adorning your bedding is therefore crucial for your comfort, health and the quality of the day.

Cotton and Polyester are the most popular upholstery fabrics when it comes to bedding sheets. Fabric Shop brings you the unique characteristics of each fabric so you can make an informed decision based on your lifestyle, comfort, budget and personal choices.

Cotton Sheets

Cotton fabric is the fabric of the best choice for apparel and beddings since generations. It can never go out of fashion. Cotton fabric sheets are made from natural cotton fibers. They come in three varieties:

  1. American Upland: Most popular short staple cotton
  2. Pima Cotton: Most popular long staple cotton
  3. Egyptian Cotton: Long staple cotton

Let us take a look at what cotton has to offer in terms of bedding comfort.

Pros.

  • Cotton fabric is breathable. It permits air circulation easily. Thus cotton sheets are a favorite in hot and humid weather.
  • Moisture wicking property is unique. Cotton absorbs body moisture easily. It does not retain it though, it allows moisture to evaporate in the air. For individuals who tend to perspire heavily and those suffering from night sweats; cotton brings relief.
  • High durability. Long lifespan.
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Odour resistant
  • It does not attract static electricity. So dust, dirt or hair are not easily captured.
  • Becomes Softer with each wash
  • Low maintenance fabric. Easy to wash.
  • Synthesized naturally from cotton. So it is biodegradable.

Cons.

  • Cotton fabric color fades over time.
  • Expensive than polyester
  • Shrinks more than polyester
  • Prone to wrinkling
  • It has a tendency to pill ( formation of small fiber balls)
  • Cotton sheets make “rustle” noise when laying on beds.
  • Cotton though a durable fabric, it is very delicate. Susceptible to wear and tear with time. So people tend to make a second use of it in the form of cleaning cloths, picnic blankets to make the most of this super fabric.

Cotton is the ideal pick for environment lovers as it is natural and biodegradable. Thread count is vital to its softness. Higher the count, softer is the cotton fabric sheet. It ushers a smooth luxurious and crisp feel to the body. Finish free and dye free cotton sheets are also available but they are expensive.

Polyester Sheets

Polyester fabric has been in demand since the 1980s as it is easily manufactured from natural gas and petroleum products. Polyester fabric is a man-made fiber make.

Polyester fabric is almost similar in performance to cotton fabric sheets. Let us find out what makes it stand apart from cotton.

Pros.

  • Polyester fabric is highly durable. Its durability is even higher compared to cotton.
  • It does not rip/ tear easily like cotton.
  • Wrinkle resistant
  • Water resistant
  • Since it does not retain moisture and is a water repellent, it dries readily. Super fast drying ability makes it perfect for people with a busy lifestyle.
  • It is a Low maintenance fabric like cotton. Easy to wash.
  • Manufacturing and processing cost of polyester fabric sheets is minimal when compared to cotton. So it is budget- friendly and not heavy on the pocket.

Cons.

  • It is not a breathable fabric. It tends to trap body heat within making it uncomfortable to the skin.
  • It does not possess moisture wicking property of cotton. Body Moisture builds up and is not easily lost. You tend to sweat more on using polyester. Nowadays some manufacturers have changed the weave pattern of polyester making the fabric easy to breathe.
  • It can pill over time. Thus it becomes messy.
  • Absorbs stains easily. Oil/grease if spilled on it becomes extremely difficult to clean.
  • It attracts static electricity. So dust, hair, dirt are easily harbored in it leading to breeding of microorganisms and unhygienic conditions. This irritates sensitive skin.
  • It Stiffens with time. Thus the surface becomes rough to touch with usage.
  • Polyester fabric is made from Man made fiber. So it is not biodegrade

Polyester fabric is very cost-effective for low-budget users with higher durability of cotton. Though the comfort and luxury in cotton cannot be found in polyester. Simple weave polyester is preferred in these cases.

Blended sheets

Confused? Want the best of cotton as well as Polyester?

Blended sheets are here for you. Blended sheets are sheets manufactured using cotton as well as polyester fibers. Thus these sheets bring the best features of both cotton and polyester right at your door. It satisfies the urges of cotton as well as polyester users and lovers.

These sheets offer the softness of cotton with the durability of polyester. The moisture-wicking property at low cost is an exciting trait this blended sheet provides. It is a better option for those who dislike 100% pure polyester sheets. Though blended sheets offer a combination of both worlds, they are after all manufactured synthetically and are not bio-degradable. They tend to retain heat and moisture more than cotton sheets but less than polyester.

Conclusion

Provincial Fabric shop has put in the best to enlighten you about the advantages and disadvantages of cotton and polyester sheets. Cotton is definitely the best in terms of comfort and luxury. Whereas Polyester makes a better choice for budgeted consumers. Choosing the right type of upholstery fabric for your sheet finally depends upon your personal preference.

“Your Life is a reflection of how you sleep, and how you sleep is a reflection of your life”

So spend wisely on your mattress sheet for it makes a difference to your sleep and ultimately your happiness. Provincial Fabric Shop offers you an exuberant collection of cotton and polyester upholstery fabric to make the right choice for your bedding today!

QUINTESSENTIAL TEXTILES IN INTERIOR DESIGN

Interior design is the art of upgrading and beautifying the internal look of a building, room or space to make it a spacious and appealing area to live/work in. Interior design manipulates and experiments with a variety of elements in the room to enhance its aesthetics. The colour palette, furniture, furnishings, and décor are a few of the elements. Textiles form the basis of these elements.

What are textiles?

Textiles in simple terms mean “fabric materials.” Textiles are fabric cloth woven out of natural or synthetic fibers. Fibers are interlaced by weaving, knitting, knotting, braiding to fabricate a network of fabric called textiles. Natural fabric materials are cotton, linen, silk, and wool. They are derived from animals or plants. Synthetic fibers are man-made and obtained from chemicals. Rayon, nylon, polyester, acrylic are few synthetic fibers.

Textiles form the core ingredient of interior design. A basic living room is made up of upholstery, windows, floor rugs, walls, throw pillows and another such décor. Textiles are used to adorn all the elements mentioned here. So textiles are quintessential to Interior design. Interior design is not only about choosing the right upholstery and accessories but also about choosing the right textile fabric. Textiles place a big impact on the mood and tone of the room. They aid in uplifting the ambience and appeal of the space.

Why textiles matter?

Textiles define the mood and style of the space. They create an appealing aura to uplift the spirits of the people within the space. Imagine you had to make a choice between a bedroom draped in silk curtains, chenille bedspread, patterned pillows, dazzling velvet fabric for headboard, and soft wool blankets; versus a bedroom with linen fabric for bedspread, cotton blankets, and the basic cotton pillows. Which one would you choose? The obvious answer is the first option. So you see, textiles lend a harmonious finished look to the room to enhance its feel to the next level.

Textiles unite all elements in the room and help bring the space together. While selecting textiles for a specific room decide upon a single or dual colour palette. Use shades in the same colour throughout the room to accentuate every corner and to impart a stunning look. A mix and match of patterns and textures of textiles are sure to bring contrast and freshness. The best suitable type of textile for a room is chosen based on colour palette, furniture, durability or functionality, presence of children or pets and others.

Always shop for upholstery fabric depending upon the type of mood you wish to set up in the room/space. This choice is the main objective of the textile.

How to use textiles?

Textiles are crucial to planning the look of any room/space. We have acquainted you with the “textile” terminology and have shown you the significant role it plays in interior design. All Interior designing makes extensive use of textile in furnishings, upholstery, colour schemes, and décor.

Follow the below guidelines to ensure you pick the right textile for your interiors.
  • To inspire originality

The textile can provide a basis or an inception point to interior decorating a room. If you are not sure from where to begin; pick up an extraordinary stunning sofa set in vibrant textiles. This sofa will give you a direction as to how to plan other accessories in the room. It will help you build the color scheme of the room around it.

Bring home the fabric you are passionate about and make that the base of your interior design.

  • Build a color palette

Textile selection is mainly based on colors. Use textiles with varying shades of the same colour to enhance the look of the space.

  • Blend patterns, not colors

Always maintain a single/dual colour palette for a specific interior. Adding too many colours to the room will make it look unbalanced and disoriented. Stick to textiles that fall in the same palette. Use multiple patterns of textiles in the same colour. Bewitching the eyes of the beholder is sure. Vary the size of your fa patterns. But also ensure you do not use more than 3 fabric patterns; otherwise, it may spoil the harmonious look of the room.

  • Layer textures

“Texture” refers to the way a fabric looks or feels. Mix and match the textures of the same textile to add a chic look to the room. It will create contrast and aesthetically enhance the outlook.

  • Small for small

Avoid large patterns in a small room. It will make the room look even smaller. Delicate and finished designs go well in a small room.

  • Striped magic

Horizontal striped textiles will create a narrow room look wide. Whereas, vertical striped textiles will make a low ceiling seem higher than it is. This illusion is the magic of striped pattern textiles.

  • Functionality

Select textiles based on its usage in the room. A room with heavy use will demand a strong and durable textile. The room with children and pets do not allow you to use delicate and luxurious textiles.

Conclusion

Interior designing is incomplete without the use of textiles. Textile is like “Salt” to interior design. It embraces, enhances and magnifies the look and feel of any space. Textiles come in a variety of patterns, textures, colors, materials, sparkles and so on. So be wise when choosing the perfect textile for decorating your interiors.

“Life is a matter of choices you make. Make the right textile choice today.”

Cotton is pure natural fiber. Our body temperature changes in the night when we sleep. The natural tendency of the cotton fabric absorbs the heat and keeps you comfortable.

Durability:

The durability of cotton fabric is very commendable. It is easy to clean and washing machine friendly. It can also be tumble dried at a low temperature. It has an inherent ability to withstand static and hot water. It doesn’t tear easily and has a longer life-span. Cotton fabric can absorb water up to one-fifth its weight before it actually starts feeling damp.

From flax to Linen fabric

Linen is one of the oldest textiles the world has seen. It has long been cultivated in cool and moist climates. Linen is derived from the woody core of tall flax plants. The quality of linen depends on the quality of the flax plant.

The process of making linen is very simple. The entire flax plant is pulled out at the time of harvesting. This is done to ensure the flax fiber length remains intact. The flax seeds are excluded from the plant by winnowing. Retting involves the extraction of the fiber from the woody core of the plant. The plant stock/stem is allowed to decompose in wet areas by the action of bacteria. This loosens the fibers within. The outer bark is easily removed and the inner strong flax fibers are retained for further processing. The fibers are spun into threads. They then undergo wet spinning or dry spinning depending upon their length. Upholstery fabric linen is usually derived by dry spinning. The threads are spun into yarns and sent to industries for commercial manufacturing of linen fabric products.

WANT TO KNOW WHY HEMP FABRIC IS SUSTAINABLE?

Hemp is a stellar fabric. Hemp use dates back to the Neolithic age in China. Hemp fiber prints were initially used in pottery. Slowly it made its place in clothing, shoes, ropes, paper, furnishing fabrics and curtain fabrics. Plant produce for fabric use has increased so much and so has the pollution due to fabrics. Hemp reigns among all fabrics due to its excellent properties in areas of cultivation, harvesting, processing, and utility. The only crop having the lowest impact on the environment has made it popular in the fabrics genre. The Textile industry is experimenting with Hemp like never before.

Fabric House boasts of an incredible Hemp Fabric Australia Collection to suit all your upholstery material and home furnishing needs. We give you details on why to believe in Hemp’s all-time sustainability:

What is Hemp Fabric?

Hemp fabric is derived from the fibers of the Cannabis Sativa species of plants commonly known as Hemp plant. Hemp is one of the quickly growing crops cultivated in cooler climates. Hemp shows its full-fledged growth in about 4 months producing a higher amount of fiber than flax or cotton in identical land space. The hemp plant has thick growth; this prevents the growth of weeds in areas of Hemp as sunlight availability decreases. It is an eco-friendly crop grown without pesticides, artificial fertilizers or GMO seeds. Hemp demands little water for irrigation. It is soil friendly as the plant-roots grasp soil preventing soil erosion. One of its unique crop features is that it restores the soil’s nutrients back while promoting the growth of soil friendly microorganisms. As it is naturally biodegradable, it has transformed into a trending eco-fabric worldwide.

The hemp plant is very economical as each and every part of it can be put to use in the market. Apparel, clothing, upholstery fabrics and material, paper, paints, animal and bird feed, biofuel, bioplastics, shoes are the markets Hemp has invaded and established its place in. Hemp Fabric Australia is rough to touch and so it is commonly blended with fabrics like cotton, flax, silk, polyester to impart durability with a soft touch to the resulting fabric. Hemp Fabrics are routinely used in the production of kitchen towels, clothing, denim, aprons, bibs, skirts and a lot more.

Hemp contains in little or no amount the psychoactive ingredient of cannabis plant called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is a pleasurable drug. This small feature has made use of Hemp supervised by some governments.

How is Hemp Fabric made?

Industrial hemp is harvested only from the Cannabis sativa species. These are long slender plants and the resulting fibers obtained have extensive lengths.

Hemp Fabric is grown in the below fashion:

  • Cultivation of crop: The seeds are placed deep in the soil with specialized drills and equipment. This prevents weed growth.
  • Harvesting: The crop used for fabric production is harvested just before the seeds develop.
  • Retting:The harvested crop is allowed to dry for a few days. Thereafter it is soaked in water so that the bacteria and chemicals break down the hemp fibers and loosen it up for use.

This is done in either way:

  1. Water retting
  2. Dew retting
  • Breaking
  • Scutching: Hemp stems are beaten to separate the necessary fibers from the stem core.
  • Hackling: Stem fibers are combed to eliminate particulate matter and to get the fibers aligned.
  • Roving & Spinning: The fibers are twisted to form threads that are then woven into yarn for commercial use.

Hemp Fabric compared to other natural fabrics

Hemp Fabric Australia has always been a winner when compared to other fabrics. Compare it to any fabric and you will see yourself how Hemp is the most super sustainable and eco-friendly fabric of all time. Let us show you why you will fall in love with it when compared to other fabrics:

Cotton

Cotton is a very demanding crop. It is the largest pesticide needy plant. A lot of water is used at the time of cotton cultivation. Moreover cotton soaks up all the soil nutrients as it grows to make the soil null for succeeding crops to be grown on the same land. The time required for cotton plant growth when compared to Hemp is much more. Hemp, on the other hand, requires no pesticides, relatively less irrigation and is a soil-friendly crop; making it triumph in terms of sustainability.

Bamboo

Bamboo is a highly sustainable crop at par with Hemp when it comes to cultivation and harvesting. But the process involving the processing of bamboo is highly chemical regulated making bamboo lose all of its sustainability. This “viscose” processing makes bamboo more like rayon. Hemp has no such chemical regulated processing.

Recycled synthetics

Polyester, nylon, and rayon are some synthetic fabrics. They are basically man-made fibers that are not biodegradable. To use recycled synthetics is no doubt good because it prevents them from polluting the environment. But yes we cannot deny the truth that they are after all originally non-biodegradable and derived from oil, unlike Hemp which is a plant product.

Linen

Linen fabric is similar in look and texture when compared to Hemp. Linen is a naturally biodegradable product as it is obtained from the flax plant stem. So it is highly sustainable when in comparison to Hemp. The only few features that make Hemp more sustainable is that hemp can be grown in any season, unlike linen. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LINEN FABRIC

Don’t’ you know about LINEN?

It’s there right in your house besides you and you haven’t acknowledged it for years. Linen is the ultimate fabric that has brought comfort to many homes in the form of Clothing, bedsheets, drapes, tablecloths, napkins, handkerchiefs, home décor, towels, aprons, lingerie ….. The list is endless.

Fabric House brings to you all need to know about this ancient fabric.

Linen is processed from flax fibers and has derived its name from the Latin name for flax plant: Linum. Linen has been in use since the very old days about 8000 BC. A prehistoric cave in Georgia was the first of where dyed flax fibers were used. Linen was considered a fabric of utmost sanctity as it was used to make priestly garments and in the mummification of bodies in historical Egypt.

How linen is made?

Linen is extracted from flax fibers that are present in the stalk of the flax plant. Flax plants are commonly cultivated all over the world in cool climates.

The flax plant is cut or pulled out from the ground. Pulling the entire plant from the ground aids in retaining the entire length of the fiber. The seed is removed from the plant through the process called winnowing/ripping. Retting is then done to exclude the plant stock and extract the flax fiber.

The flax plant fiber is stored in the barn to allow it to soften. Fibers are combed through to separate the shorter/broken fibers from the longer intact flax fibers.

Longer fibers undergo a “wet spinning” procedure. This yields soft & smooth yarn used for clothes and bedsheets.

Shorter fibers undergo a “dry spinning” procedure. This yields strong and heavy yarn used for paper making, ropes, home furnishings, and tents.

The flax fibers are then threaded into yarn, out of which linen fabric is woven. The quality of Linen is highly dependant on the quality of the source flax plant.

Linen Blend

Linen is an extremely versatile fabric. This is because it can be blended into any textiles to produce a new unique fabric possessing synergistic characteristics of both materials. This is called Linen blend fabric. 100% linen is used in linen blend fabric. We have enlisted below the varieties of linen blend fabric:
  1. Linen/Cotton (Blend of Linen and cotton textile)

Cotton unites with Linen to soften it incredibly decreasing the susceptibility to wrinkle formation. The resulting fabric is crisp and firm in appearance.

  2. Linen/Silk (Blend of Linen and silk textile)

Silk linen is also known as Silk Matka. This fabric appears to have a rough and knobby texture and is specially used to fabricate delicate sarees.

  3. Linen/Polyester (Blend of Linen and polyester textile)

Polyester helps make Linen a colorfast fabric that is easier to wash and wrinkle-free.

  4. Linen/Rayon (Blend of Linen and Rayon textile)

Rayon imparts a fluid flow to Linen. The resulting fabric has a soft subtle radiance and easy to drape characteristics.

Taking care of Linen

Linen is a very simple nature given fabric and it requires simple to care for its maintenance.

Linen becomes softer after each machine wash. 100% linen is machine washable as well as tumble dryable on low temperature. Always choose the “Gentle
cycle” when washing linen in machines.

Dry cleaning linen fabric imparts a crisp look to the fabric. Only heavyweight linen-like jackets, suits, and curtains can be dry-cleaned. Dry cleaning should never be performed on regular linen.

Handwashing is generally recommended for lightweight linen because machine wash may damage individual fibers. All linen textile demand to be washed in lukewarm water using mild liquid detergent. Very hot or very cold water is to be avoided. It may result in extreme shrinkage of fabric. A minimum amount of shrinkage is generally accepted after the first wash of any linen fabric.

It is advisable to always store the linen garments in a cool and dry place after wash.

FOUR REASONS TO BUY BLINDS AND CURTAINS ONLINE

Curtain Fabric is an important aspect when it comes to choosing the type of curtain for your HOME. Each fabric has its own charm, performance and unique features. So it’s important to choose the perfect fit for your dream house.

Online curtain fabric and blinds shopping enables you to do this with ease. This becomes imperative in case you need to select the curtain if you’re short on time or not sure about the type of curtain that will suit your house.

“BE YOUR OWN INTERIOR STYLIST”

Scroll below to see why online curtain shopping is the best…

Four reasons to buy curtains and blinds online:

  1. VARIETY :

“Variety is the Spice of Life”

Every individual in today’s life is bored with the mundane. All strive to look different be different. An online curtain fabric store just provides you with a BIGGER SELECTION to satisfy your hunger for Variety.

Brick and mortar retailers or what we commonly call the local stores are incapable of providing you with inexhaustive variety because they are limited by the number of supplies they get, the amount of space available in their showroom for display, amount of material they are supposed to have at a given time and so on.

The situation gets worse if you do not live in a city. Small towns have small stores and again limited selection. If you do ask the store for a special kind of curtain they may order it for you. But again here you have to pay more for the special order and you may even have to wait weeks for it to arrive.

Few people have large windows or oddly shaped windows, such people are left hopeless because they can never find a perfect curtain that suits their needs.

Here the Online curtain Fabric store becomes a HERO. None of the constraints mentioned above is applicable to online curtain shopping. Curtain fabrics online provide you with exquisite variety just at the click of the mouse.
  2.
  3. CHEAPER PRICE :

Retail stores pay for overhead charges like store maintenance, manufacturer price, supplier fees, staff, transportation of goods etc. All of this gets passed on to the customer in the form of the final selling price of the goods. The customer needs to pay for this EXTRA money in case of retail stores.

Online stores cut out this MIDDLE MAN fees as they directly sell their goods online. The savings are passed on to the customer in the form of discounted prices. Thus shopping curtain fabrics online become light on the pocket of common man.
  4.
  5. TIME SAVER :

Any retail shopping requires you to spend time and energy. Todays’ employed generation struggles to find a balance between home and work, kids and extracurricular activities. Setting aside time for shopping becomes a headache in this hectic lifestyle.
Online curtains and blinds shopping permits you to browse and compare thousands of deals online without leaving the comfort of your house. In a matter of minutes you book your décor curtains and in a matter of days, your curtains arrive at your doorstep ready to be used. All those hours that you may have wasted rushing to local stores beating road traffic are saved.
  6.
  7. ONLINE CUSTOMER SERVICE :

Some people prefer face to face interaction with the company’s representatives while purchasing. Online shopping does not provide you with this benefit but yes it does supply you with mail id and contact number wherein you can contact the customer care unit any time of the day. They provide experienced and professional advice with a courteous tone. Advice regarding measuring window size and installing curtains is easily sought. The representatives explain certain details like colour, style, length, an accessory as per your requirements and quote it at an affordable price just over the call.

Online customer service provides you with a solution that not only suits your house but also your budget.

UPHOLSTERY MATERIALS CLEANING METHODS OR CODES

"W"

If your upholstered furniture is marked with a "W" then you should be glad because it can be cleaned with water. You should be glad after knowing this fact because cleaning stubborn stains are very difficult from an Upholstery Fabric. Fabrics marked as “W’ are truly durable and easier to clean if something split on it. The fabric is ideal for your couches, dining table’s chairs and carpets. Your furniture won’t dig deep on your pocket for its cleaning and it will be done easily.

"S"

Code “S” on furniture is an indicator that your furniture must be cleaned with solvents. Only dry cleaning should be performed on upholstery fabric as it can get damaged if contact of water. Every upholstery seller keeps such kind of furniture because it sold to them by your local carpet cleaner. (Ensure that after using such kind of a product you use a blow dryer so that the spot dries easily without leaving a ring!) Do not enable your furniture to wind up freakishly dirty if you want to be satisfied with the expert cleaning results. Dirt and spills must be cleaned quickly for the maintenance of your product's colour and texture.

"S/W"

"S/W" this mark means that both dry cleaning and water can be used to clean the upholstery fabric under this code. There are many types of furniture whose cleaning should only be done by the professionals but upholstery material under this code mean it can be cleaned by oneself too. If you don’t have a budget that allows you to do the professional cleaning of your product then you should not be worried. Furniture under this code can be cleaned by oneself as quickly as possible otherwise the stains will set it. If you are doing the cleaning then using a cleaner which is solvent based is always suggested.

"X"

This code isn't too common nowadays. It is seen mostly on texture blinds and shades. It implies the thing isn't cleanable and should only be vacuumed!! You can still know its cleaning method at a rebuilding shop nearby.

Lightfastness Explained

Colourfastness to light means "how much a colour opposes fading when comes into contact with light regularly." This is very essential when looking for a texture that will be used in a sun-room, living room or outside, note that all colours have some defenselessness to light harm. Issues with fading will, in general, happen when the texture picked is not of very good quality.

Fabric makers always perform UV tests that let people know about the texture's fading degree against lightfastness. People in the US use American Standard AATCC 169.3. In this test, a fabric is exposed to explicit conditions to a controlled light source which recreates the sun range of Albuquerque, New Mexico. At coordinated interim, the test swatch is contrasted outwardly with a dim scale and the level of fading is appraised on a scale from 1 to 5.

1 = Very Poor, High Degree of Fading 5 = Very Good, No Fading

Producers may likewise give a lightfastness in the number of daylight hours. Any number of hours can be checked, however, open-air textures should not range close to 500-2000+. The accurate time of lightfastness can get detected as there are numerous variables that become an integral factor.

Lightfastness always depends upon the sun-intensity of a geographical area. The more intense the sunlight would be, the higher would be the degree of lightfastness of a fabric. Airflow, the temperature of a place and humidity are also the components that can be responsible for the lightfastness of a texture.

Worldwide Solar Intensity Potential

You must be aware that everybody is influenced by the sun's UV beams throughout the entire year. Even cloudy days can affect us. Sunlight makes a way into our rooms in every season that can cause fading of a fabric's colour. Line draperies with a defensive coating, consider the intensity of the sunlight through your windows, the number of long periods of direct daylight, and regardless of whether your texture will be ensured by the shade while choosing your texture.

The cleaning codes of the upholstery fabrics must be known by the owner in order to protect it from colourfastness. The intensity of the sun and its cleaning method are the two bigger factors that can fade a fabric’s colour.
