TUTORIAL ON FABRIC COVERED EASTER EGG

Materials needed:
  • Styrofoam egg shape. Available in small/medium/large sizes. You can use the size as per your need. (Available in craft stores)
  • Fabric scraps or specialized Easter fabric material. (8”x 8”)
  • Ribbons, Vintage braids or yarns.
  • Permanent marker
  • Craft knife
  • Butter knife
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive
Method:
  1. Take the Styrofoam egg. Using a permanent marker draw vertical lines on the egg dividing it into four equal quarters.
  2. Use the craft knife to cut about 1 cm deep along these lines.
  3. Cut 4 teardrop shaped cut-outs from the Easter fabric material. The cut-out should be large enough to cover each quarter of the egg shape. The cut-out need not be exactly fitting but they should cover each quarter with about 1 cm to spare at the margins. You can use the same or assorted Easter fabric in each quarter.
  4. Use the butter knife to gently tuck in the edge of the fabric into the cuts placed on the egg. Take care that no extra fabric pokes out from the edge.
  5. Repeat the same for all the 4 quarters
  6. The ribbon is then wrapped around the joints/cuts to hide them. You can tuck the ribbons in place with the glue. Make a knot with the ribbon at one end of the egg so that it looks like a fancy bow and can be easily hung if required.
